Morris David Sparrow, 88, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 1, 2021, at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road, Macon, GA. Burial will be private in Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg, Georgia. Rev. Teresa Edwards will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hills Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Mr. Sparrow was born in Jesup, Georgia, to the late Frances E. Jones Sparrow and Morris J. Sparrow. He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Stovall Sparrow and brothers Julian Sparrow and James Sparrow. Mr. Sparrow was retired as a computer programmer from McNair, McLemore, and Middlebrooks. He was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church and Grace Bible Class. He enjoyed music and was a member of his church choir, Macon Barbershop Quartet and Singing Saints. Mr. Sparrow was a member of the Macon Exchange Club and enjoyed helping with the State Fair when it was here in Macon. He was in the Air Force and a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Sparrow is survived by his sister, Frances Thomason, of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews; stepdaughters Cathy Dillon (Ray) of Auburn, AL, and Sherry Slocumb (Robert) of Macon; step grandchildren, Michelle Dillon Puckett, Haley Dillon Byers (Brannon), Ashley Slocumb Pyron (Justin), Shannon Slocumb Ethridge (Chad), Natalie Slocumb Barron (Cole), and Rob Slocumb as well as a number of great-grandchildren and special friend, Denise Andrews.
