Martin Garcia, Sr., 72, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 14, 1945 to Francisco and Maria Anita Barrientos Garcia in McAllen, TX. Martin was raised in the McAllen area and moved to Lancaster in 1968, where he and Elva expanded their family with the birth of five children before moving to Seagoville in 1991. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church although he had attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church for the last several years. Martin was employed for George Welch Construction for over 25 years and then worked for B & B Concrete and Sawing, serving as a foreman for over 15 years. He was an extremely hard worker and provider for his family. Martin was a very strong, stern person and what some would consider “ornery”, and you knew you didn’t want to “cross that line” with him. He grew up playing baseball, and continued that passion by supporting the Texas Rangers faithfully. Affectionately known as Grandpa, he loved to watch his grandchildren play sports as well and to also play dominoes with them. Martin also loved to go to the casinos. His greatest pleasure in life was his family and they will forever hold his memory in their hearts. Preceding him in death are his parents Francisco and Maria Garcia and brothers: Francisco Garcia, Jr., Jesus Garcia, Xavier Garcia and Jose Luis Garcia. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 49 years, Elva Garcia; children: Martin Garcia, Jr. and wife, Christina, Melissa Muniz and husband, Joe, Lupe Garcia and wife, Natalie, Maria Ashford and husband, Alton and Francisco Garcia; grandchildren: Martin Garcia III, Christopher Garcia, Patrick Muniz, Jorden Garcia, Samantha Garcia, Marcos Muniz, Alex Muniz, Lexi Garcia, Lilie Garcia, Alyssa Garcia, Aaliyah Ashford and Alyssa Shae Garcia; great-grandchildren: Mya Garcia, Jaiden Garcia, Madison Garcia and two more on the way; brother Armando Garcia and wife, Esthela and sister Martha Garcia; a host of extended family member and friends that will miss him dearly. Family will receive visitors from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville, TX. Rosary will be heard at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Ferris, TX. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Seagoville, TX, where he will be laid to rest in the Court of Liberty. Please leave condolences for the family at www.Roselawn-Funerals.com.
