A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Morty served on the USS Randolph during the Korean War where he followed his passion by managing the crew’s baseball team. After serving in the Navy he attended aeronautical school. During that time he met and married his wife of 60 years, Gilda Gart in Brooklyn, NY. Soon after, Morty began working for United Air Lines, starting a long career as an airline mechanic. Eventually, he brought his family to Atlanta and began working for Delta Air Lines. Morty retired from Delta in 1991 after nearly 25 years of service.
Morty was an avid fan of anything related to sports, especially when his children and grandchildren were involved. He was a coach, a fan and a mentor. He loved playing tennis, reading and history. He was also very involved with the Jewish War Veterans Atlanta Post. Survivors include his wife Gilda; daughter, Alysa Martin and son-in-law Ken Martin; son, Scott Rodwin; daughter Carey Rodwin Duffy and son-in –law John Duffy; granddaughter, Jamie Martin Noble and her husband Jeff; granddaughter Evan Martin; grandson Jared Martin; great grandchildren Riley Martin and Henry Noble; brother Donald Rodwin and sister-in-law Shawn; sister Linda Tenenbaum and brother-in-law Arthur; sister Roberta Meshel; brother Steve Rodwin; brother and sister-in-laws Ben and Sandy Gart; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
