A native of Athens, Mr. Pettyjohn was the son of the late Waymon Victor Pettyjohn and Floy Jordan Pettyjohn. He was the owner/operator of Pettyjohn Auto Electric on Boulevard for over 40 years. He also loved drag racing and working on antique radios. He was a member of West End Baptist Church. Mr. Pettyjohn had been a resident of Rainbow Retirement Home in Arnoldsville for the last 5 years.
Survivors include children, Michelle Wood (Tommy), Melanie Sottile (Gene Wren) and Ginger Pettyjohn, all of Winterville; sister, June P. Blackwell of Statham; grandson, Brandon Wood of Athens; and special friend, Maria Funk of Winterville.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 3 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 105 Westpark Drive, Suite C, Athens, GA 30606.
