Donald Ray Tibbitts passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 26, 2019 and has been laid to rest in Anniston Memorial Gardens. He was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. Born in Jacksonville, he graduated from Jacksonville High School and studied Business Administration at Jacksonville State University. He served in the National Guard, worked for Pinkerton, and had a long career and retired from the state of Alabama in 1996.
He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Tibbitts and mother Mamie (Duggan) as well as his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Diane; daughters Carmen and Dina; grandchildren Chris and Katie, and dogs Chloe, Tippy, Shuggie, and Sprout.
Because of his lifelong kindness and care for animals and the love and joy he found in rescuing many dogs over the years, his family requests you honor his life by adopting a homeless pet or donating to a no-kill shelter or rescue group of your choice.
