Lutha Leleux Mouton was born November 17, 1922 in New Iberia to the union of Dewey Leleux and Ita Broussard LeLeux and was one of four children. On Thursday, November 14, 2019, just three days before her 97th birthday, Mrs. Mouton passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was 96.
Mrs. Mouton, known by many as Mrs. “Ta” and by her family as Nan “Ta” was a longtime Hairstylist in New Iberia for over 45 years. Her career brought her great joy and an opportunity to visit with her many clients who were like family to her. Some of her favorite pastimes were going camping, vacations to the beach and enjoying a walk for exercise and she was a member of the Golden Age Club and the Council on Aging.
Faith and family were also very dear to her. Mrs. Mouton had a deep and loving devotion to the blessed mother and only wanted love and peace for others. That devotion carried over to her family who meant the world to her. Her undying love was given to her children and the many grand, great grand and great great grandchildren that she adored so much. Her beautiful smile and generous and warm heart will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Rest well Nan Ta. Until we meet again.
Survivors include her four children, Sheryl M. Laporte and Sammy, George Glenn Mouton and Betty, Paul D. Mouton and Judy all of New Iberia and Jill M. Byers and Gregory of Indianapolis, IN; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren; and her sister, June Sonnier of Longview, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Mouton; her parents, Dewey and Ita Broussard Leleux; and her sister and brother, Liz L. Tilly and Hayward Leleux.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sammy Laporte, George Glenn Mouton, Paul Mouton, Brennon Broussard, Kenson Verret and Chase Parks. Gregory Byers will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.
The family would like to extend the heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana and to Maison de Monde Nursing Center, especially the staff of the Memory Care Unit for the care and compassion shown to our dear mother.
