Evelyn was born in Elizabeth, NJ, to Pauline (Cichon) and John Danik. She attended Saint Adalbert’s Catholic School and then moved to Roselle Park, NJ, where she lived for ten years attending public schools. A graduate from Montclair State University with a degree in education, Evelyn also attended the University of Nebraska for graduate courses.
As a teacher she taught K-12 and Spanish in New Jersey, Connecticut and Nebraska. Fluent in Spanish, Evelyn was also a translator for companies working with Mexico.
Evelyn and her husband Joe, traveled extensively through North America, Europe and Asia enjoying different cultures, foods, music and history. They both enjoyed dancing and entertaining family and friends in their home.
An avid gardener Evelyn was involved with the South Peninsula Garden Club where she earned the Master Gardener status as well as entered and won many competitions. She also loved art and literature and was involved with several book clubs. In addition Evelyn was a self-taught artist. She was a devoted member of the Council of Catholic Women and volunteered for local charities and organizations.
Evelyn joins her beloved husband and best friend of 52 years, Joseph R. Ferrara, and daughter, Celeste Ferrara Bowen, in Heaven. Left behind to carry her memory are her children Loraine Ferrara and her husband Edwin Perez of Santa Ana, CA, Susanne Ferrara of North Chelmsford, MA, Daniel Ferrara and his wife Lillian of Daytona Beach, FL and her grandchildren, Jessica Ferrara and her partner Paul Solomon and great grandson Loki Ferrara-Solomon of Rutland, VT, her beloved Joshua Bowen of Orlando, FL, Aimee Ferrara of Plantation, FL, Olivia Sierra and Isabella Sierra, both of North Chelmsford, MA; Shannon Burch and her husband Steven, Justin Santos and Jacob Santos all of Taunton, MA; as well as nieces, nephews and family in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Jude’s Hospital in memory of Evelyn.
