It is with overwhelming sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, aunt, grandmother and friend Deborah Ann Whitty (Brown) on Friday, September 4, 2020 at the age of 64 following a very courageous battle with cancer. Debbie was born and raised in Sydney Mines. She was the daughter of the late James and Jessie (Boyce) Brown. Debbie was always the caregiver. She took care of her mom, sister and husband. That led to looking after many great ladies whom she loved and considered family. Debbie was a very kind, wonderful lady with a great sense of humour. Her quick wit will not be forgotten. Our lives will never be the same and she will be forever missed. Besides her parents, Debbie is predeceased by her husband, Jerry, and her only sister, Hilda Jackman. She is survived by sons, Terry (Sydney Mines) and Jamie (Cheryl) Sydney Mines; her niece whom she considered a daughter, Michelle (Pat) Jackman North Sydney; nephew, Jimmy Fort McMurray; grandchildren, Patrick, Connor, Lillian and Linea, as well as special daughter, Angie. A service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating.
