Lorraine Dupuis, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at her daughter Nancy’s home in Encinitas, California. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on September 27, 1922, she was the daughter of Laurilla (Marotte) and Phillipe Gagnon. Lorraine graduated from Hartford High School in 1940 and married Robert E. Dupuis on June 20, 1942. Lorraine and Bob raised five children, spending many happy years in Connecticut and their vacation home in Charlestown, RI. They retired to Boynton Beach, Fl in 1987 and moved to Encinitas, CA in 2001.
Lorraine was a vital, energetic woman and a loving wife and mother. She worked for many years at the Connecticut Bar Association in Hartford, CT. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and volunteering at her church and children’s schools. Raising Siamese cats and kittens was a hobby and her passion. In her later years, she greatly enjoyed making puzzles and playing Rummikub and Scrabble, often involving hours of fun with her friends and family.
Lorraine is survived by her children - Robert Dupuis of Charlestown, Rhode Island; Philip Dupuis of Myrtle Beach, SC; Donna and her husband Robert Martin of Myrtle Beach, SC; Mary Ellen and her husband Raymond Belom of Murrells Inlet, SC and Nancy and her husband Paul Nelson of Encinitas, CA. Lorraine is also survived by ten grandchildren – Robert (Candace) Martin, Nicole Morris, Julie, Sarah and Jeffrey Dupuis, John DuPerry , Janene Lewis, Brandon (Lindsay) and Brian (Sunee) Nelson and Tracy (Steven) DiCarlo and eleven great-grandchildren – Jonathan and Michael Morris, Robert and Abigail Martin, Tristan and Tyler Balchunas, Tate Lewis, Noah and Lenora Nelson and Sierra and Dylan Nelson. She also leaves her cherished sister-in-law, Theresa Dupuis and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Lorraine was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert Dupuis, her two brothers, Alcide (Theresa) and Oscar Gagnon and her brother-in-law, Henry Dupuis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 11 am in St John’s Catholic Church, 1001 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, with calling hours at El Camino Memorial, 340 Melrose Ave. Encinitas before Mass from 8:30 am to 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be following the Mass at Mission San Luis Rey, 4050 Mission Avenue, Oceanside.
