Ted Ernest ‘Teddy’ Piekenbrock passed away after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer at the age of 70. He was born to Ted J. and Shirley L. Piekenbrock in Scottsbluff, NE on October 18, 1950. Ted, the oldest of four, grew up in Kimball, NE and moved with the family to Laramie, WY in 1964. Ted graduated from Laramie High School in 1969 where he was active in basketball, golf and cross country. As a junior he held the title of Wyoming High School Champion Golfer of the Year. Ted attended Columbia College in New York City on a golf scholarship, was a four year letter winner, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History in 1973.
Ted was an assistant club and teaching professional at several resorts and country clubs in New York and Illinois. He moved to Florida where he met his future wife, Lucille Catalano. They were married in 1979 and had two sons, Joseph and Jonathan. Their family enjoyed going to the beach, and camping and traveling in their trusty conversion van. Many special holidays and events were spent with the Catalanos in Florida and the Piekenbrocks in Colorado. Ted spent 35 years as a life and health insurance agent in Florida, Nevada and California. He and Lucille later divorced. Since moving to Loveland, CO in 2003, Ted held customer service and management positions at Walgreens and King Soopers.

Ted wore his love for his friends on his sleeve. He was boisterously at the center of every event and you never had to wonder if he had arrived at the party. If you were a friend of Ted you were a forever friend. He was smart, complex and determined. He was one of a kind, sometimes hard to understand and always impossible to ignore. He will forever remain in our hearts and his memory will bring a smile, a smirk or a chuckle.
