She attended Burnett High school, an all black school, that was later integrated during her senior year with Terrell High School. She graduated in 1969 from Terrell High school and in 2011 was granted the opportunity to walk the stage at Burnett in an honorary ceremony for the special class of ‘69. She was also a dedicated supporter of W. H. Burnette scholarship fund over the years.
Sis. Annie was a joy to be around always giving selflessly and with a smile. After graduating she worked at Terrell State Hospital for a short while before beginning a career at Mead. She spent over 30 years working for Mead Company where she retired and lived her years giving and helping others. She prided herself in staying connected with all her family and friends and made it a point to call and check on all her loved ones when she could. She was on the Family Reunion Committee for the Coleman Family Reunions. She helped coordinate for many years and always had gifts and goody bags for everyone. She spread her love and it was always felt by others through her actions. She attended every reunion for 50 consecutive years. She was very proud of that milestone.
Sis. Annie was a member of United COGIC for many years. In 2003, she surrendered her life to Christ and was saved and later filled with the precious Holy Ghost under the leadership of the late Elder OJ Mays and First Lady Ann Mays. She served as the announcement clerk, choir member and in other capacities at United under the continued leadership of Pastor and First Lady Miller. She enjoyed being an active member in her church and showed up with a smile. As the need arose for more assistance with her health she became a member of Full Gospel Holy Temple with her family under the leadership of Apostle Herman and Lady Danielle Murray until her transition. She loved to praise God and everyone who encountered her praise was met with an overwhelming feeling of genuine joy.
She gained her wings on January 8, 2021. She will be greatly missed from everyone who knew her. She had the biggest heart and shared her love to all she encountered. We will miss her smile and how she gave of herself at all times. She was our angel here on earth.
