

Lois Walker passed away in Grosse Pointe Park on May 8, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born in Canada on December 22, 1928; daughter of Lorne and Alberta (nee McCool) Wilson. Lois married George Walker on June 5th, 1954. She maintained her Canadian residence despite moving to Houston, Texas in 1971 when her husband's employer transferred him. She retired over twenty years ago from the Houston Independent School District as a financial secretary. Mrs. Walker was a devoted wife and mother. She was a very independent woman and an avid motor home traveler. She was a former president of the Blue Bonnet Travelers club and former treasurer of the Texas "W" motor home club. Lois drove her 35 foot motor home all over the United States by herself. She would pull her car behind the motor home, hitching it and unhitching it by herself. She lived a great life and will be missed by everyone left behind. Her husband George passed away in 1992 and son Victor passed away tragically in 1981. She is survived by her loving daughter Deborah (Michael) Carlisle; and siblings Reta Laut, Walt Wilson, Kay VanMaarion. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Walker on Monday, May 12 at 7:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Her family will receive guests at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
