

Alice Johnson, who was born on October 22, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on August 30, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by love, devotion, and the many quiet ways she cared for the people around her.
She was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought comfort and warmth to her family. Alice was preceded in death by her father, John Edgar Newton; her children, Robert Johnson and Tammy French; and her brother, John Newton. She is survived by her mother, Alice Newton; her children, Sarah (Phillip) Muthler, James (Tia) Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Shannon (Elizabeth) Johnson, Linda Jeffries, and Amanda Tekin; bunches of grandkids and great-grandkids; and her siblings, Linda Newton, David Newton, Larry Newton, and Rose Arnold.
Alice lived a life centered on family, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved. She had a gentle spirit and a steady presence that made others feel welcome and cared for. Her family will remember her for the love she gave freely, the memories she helped create, and the strength she showed throughout her life.
In her quieter moments, Alice enjoyed watching the Lifetime Channel, playing Bingo, working word search puzzles, following her soap operas, and keeping up with The Price Is Right. These simple pleasures brought her happiness and reflected the comfort she found in familiar routines and favorite pastimes. She especially treasured the time spent with family, and those moments will remain among the most cherished memories for all who knew her.
Alice’s life was one of enduring love and connection. She will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her family, and the lasting impact she made on the lives of those around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A visitation will be held at Hardy-Close Funeral Home 285 S. Buckman Street Shepherdsville, Kentucky 40165 on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 11am to 2pm. A funeral will follow immediately at 2pm. Alice will be laid to rest at Brookland Cemetery.
