Jim Allen, 67, of Vancouver, WA, passed away Jan. 14, 2010. He had been battling MS in the last few years of his life. He was born in Santa Monica, CA and received his high school diploma from Westminster High School in Westminster, CA.After graduation he joined the Air Force on July 19, 1960 and served for almost four years at bases in Las Vegas and New Mexico. Soon after he was discharged he met his first wife, Judy Yergensen, at Bob's Big Boy in Garden Grove, CA. They married three months later on Aug. 8, 1964 in Las Vegas, NV. They were married for 29 years and had two children Julie and Jason. Jim relocated his family to Vancouver in 1970 and worked as a lineman for 19 years and was a proud member of the I.B.E.W. Jim enjoyed coaching youth baseball and soccer for his son, Jason, as he was growing up and was very involved with baseball in the Vancouver area. He coached Clark College boy's baseball and scouted for the Montreal Expos. Jim and his wife, Judy, became involved in the video movie rental industry when it first started in 1983. They owned stores called the Moviehouse and LA Video for many years in Woodland, La Center, Camas and Vancouver, WA.In 1993 he married his second wife, Rachelle Naas, and they had a son, Judson. He relocated with them to Redding, CA in 1998. He loved watching NASCAR, a sport he was introduced to while married to Rachelle. Jim was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1995. The disease had taken his mobility away recently and he was in a wheelchair the majority of the time. He again relocated to Vancouver in Feb. 2009.Jim is survived by his daughter, Julie Kasowski (Jeff); son, Jason Allen (Tasha); son, Judson Allen; grandchildren, Jake Kasowski, Jared Kasowski, Tyler Allen and Bailee Allen; sisters, Jeanette, Phyllis and Judith. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ni'cole Allen; and his father and mother.Service will be held Fri., Jan. 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Vancouver Funeral Chapel, 110 East 12th Street, Vancouver, WA. Interment will follow at Willamette National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements under the direction of Vancouver Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, WA.
