Paul Placek

Paul Leo Placek1927 ~ 2010 Paul Leo Placek age 82, passed away February 7, 2010 in Midvale, Utah. He was born September 21, 1927 in New Ulm, Minnesota to Leo and Lillian Backschieder Placek. He attended East High and graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and worked for thirty years at the U.S. Bureau of Mines. He married Maxine MacDuff on July 10, 1993. He loved classical music and had season tickets to the Utah Symphony for 50 years. Paul played the piano as well. He traveled extensively and was an avid photographer and loved our National Parks, hiking, camping and cats. He will be missed and loved by all. Paul is survived by his wife Maxine; step-son Malcolm (Gail Dawson) MacDuff; brother-in-law, Lewis Nielsen; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be Saturday February 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Wasatch Presbyterian Church, 1626 South 1700 East, Salt Lake City, UT. A viewing will be held at the church from 12:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
