Predeceased by his first wife Ruth Temple, his second wife Dorothy Maclean, five sisters Annette, Celine, Anne-Marie, Bertha, Therese and brother William.'' A life completely lived'' is a fitting epitaph. Leo's interests were many but perhaps he is best known for his passion for the great outdoors. This included years of hiking the trails of the Adirondack and Green Mountains, canoe trips into Algonquin Park, snowshoeing the Maple Leaf Trail and regular outing to the Morgan Arboretum. His children and grandchildren continue with the tradition of mountain sports and wilderness trips and appreciate his efforts to introduce them to these activities at an early age. Leo was also forever fixing anything mechanical or electrical, especially if it was considered beyond repair . The diverse content of the storage sheds at his cottage was proof of this. Leo was also known for his powerful singing voice which is rooted in the musical traditions of the Albert family of Edmundston, New-Brunswick. No one could miss Leo's high notes in church, which were always in key.Leo attended Saint-Francis Xavier University and Nova Scotia Technical College graduating in both mechanical and electrical engineering. A naval officer (lieutenant\electrical) stationed in Halifax when WWII ended, he started his engineering career initially in Toronto and subsequently moved to Montreal for Comstock International and later Becher Mechanical. In 1962, he was recruited to become Chief Mechanical Engineer for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He maintained this position for over 25 years during which time the CBC greatly expanded their broadcasting and administrative facilities across Canada. The family would like to thank the many caregivers, companions and medical support teams from both the Manoir Kirkland and St-Anne's Veterans Hospital, all of whom helped greatly to make Leo's final years interesting, comfortable and safe. Contributions to the Mcgill University Centre for Aging. would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers. Please see their website (www.aging.mcgill.ca).
