F.L. was born in Polk County, Arkansas on December 19, 1921 to Luther and Frances Wood. He married his high school sweetheart, Inez Watkins on January 14, 1942. F. L. served during World War II with the United States Army 746 Tanker Division on Omaha Beach and was awarded a Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal and seven major battle stars. He retired from Dairyman's Creamery in 1984.
F.L. was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Wood, his parents Luther C. Wood and Barbara Frances Wood; his brother, Devereaux Wood and his sister Wanda Mae Wood.
F. L. is survived by his three sisters, Willah Hoover of Texarkana, TX, Imah Johnson (Ray) of Pangburn, AR and Armel Carroll (Bob) of Bluffton, SC; nieces, Norma Cederlof, Mary Carroll Davis, and Janice Thrash and nephews, Bruce Hoover, Doug Johnson and Stephen Carroll.
