Karolina Platacis Ziznovskis

Born July 15, 1918 in Rezekne, Latvia to the late Dominiks and Virginia (Pokuls) Platacis, departed this world October 31, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Alberts Ziznovskis. Alberts and Karolina found an opportunity to bring their family to the United States from England in 1962. On Valentine’s Day of 1962, they arrived at New York aboard the Queen Mary. Karolina worked for Western Electric for many years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Latvian Community Center and St. Luke Catholic Church. Karolina is survived by her son, Eriks (Susan) Ziznovskis; daughter, Inara (Rick) Blackburn; grandchildren, Jenny and Neal McFall, Ian Ziznovskis and Khija Buergelin; great-grandchildren, Cory McFall, Taylor Buergelin, Izek Ziznovskis and Ashton White; sister, Helena Apogs and brother, Stanislavs Platacis. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Antons and Brunos Platacis. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00AM Tuesday, November 5th in St. Luke Catholic Church with visitation there beginning at 10:00AM. Interment follows at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Latvian Community Center.
