Vergie E. Powers

Vergie Elsie DeJonge was born on October 18, 1938 in East Jordan, the daughter or Louie & Eda E (Hill) DeJonge I. She married Dale Fitzhugh on Aug 23, 1963 in Traverse City, who preceded her in death. She then married Frank Powers on June 30, 1986 in Traverse City. She worked for Munson Medical Center for many years.

Vergie is survived by her daughter, Louise Klang; 5 grandchildren, Corrin, Megan, Erica, Zoë, and Douglas Klang III; sisters, Mary Shuboy and Allie DeJonge; brother, James (Eva) DeJonge; 8 Nephews and Nieces, Mary (Scott) Bellinger, John Shubly, Karen (Matt) Sullivan, Sharon (Todd) Whitcher, Louie (Lisa) DeJonge, Rich (Cheryl) Mapes, Adam (Laura) Baker, and April (Mike) Carr; and many other family members.

Vergie was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Eda DeJonge; husbands Dale on 26 Oct 2010 and Frank Powers on 09 Dec 2004; and sister, Luella Mapes.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service, all at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
