

Wingfield, Garnett Craig, 79, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at his home in Richmond, Va. He is survived by his son David Wingfield and his wife Vickie; four grandchildren, Christopher 18, Nicole 16 Christina 12 and Michael 9 and a step-granddaughter, Rebecca Walker who all live in Hurt Virginia. He has three stepchildren, David Metcalf of Mechanicsville, Va., Cathy Birdsong of Powhatan, Va. and Danny Metcalf of Washington State by his second wife Joan, who passed away several years ago.
Craig had a wonderful zeal for life and he is going to missed very much by his family. He loved music and played the Dobro for many Bluegrass bands over the years. His last band was the best, as it gave him the opportunity to get close to Jesus. He is now at peace and with the love of his life, Joan.
The family will receive guests from 3-7:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, at Woody Funeral Home-Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, Va. 23229. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, at the funeral home. A small graveside service will follow at Westhampton Memorial & Cremation Park next to his wife, Joan. The family is asking that sending flowers is fine, but would also like donations to go New Bethesda Church, 9019 New Bethesda Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23116, the church where he played Gospel music with Amy Ladd and Friends.
