Frederick W. Manney, Jr. 89 died March 16, 2020 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL. He was born on December 31, 1930 to Frederick and Adele Manney in Brooklyn, NY, and lived in Fort Pierce, FL. He raised his family in Levittown, NY.
He was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was an electrician by trade and he retired as a detective from the Nassau County New York Police Department after 26 years of service.
He was active in the Spanish Lakes Fairways (SLF)/Ft. Pierce community, founding the Long Island Ducklings; volunteered with the Relay for Life, Angel Food Ministry, and served as a coordinator for the SLF Service Member Care Package team. He was the founding member of Spanish Lakes Fairways Color Guard and men’s golf league. He was a member of the Ft. Pierce Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge. He organized the Veteran Memorial site at SLF and he was instrumental in the Veteran Memorial at Riverside Park.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Joan Manney, his brother John “Buddy”, sister Marion and granddaughter Jennifer. Survivors include children Frederick III (Angela), Glenn (Denise), Maureen (Stephen) and foster son, Frank Zupky. He has four grandchildren Frederick IV, Kerriann (Josh), Jillian (Matt), Katya (Miguel) and three great granddaughters Emma, Alina and Addison.
