Andrew Krahn

July 12, 1925January 6, 2020

Andy was born July 12, 1925 in Altona, Manitoba and passed away at Abbotsford’s Menno Home Hospital January 6, 2020 at the age of 94 years. He was predeceased by his wife Edna, of 62 years, in June 2012, his parents, and siblings Helen, Jake, Susie, and Abe. He is survived by his three children, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren: Jacqueline (Roger Chiasson), grandson Joel (Jen), and five great grandchildren; Darrell (Kathie), grandchildren Jared (Ami) and four great grandchildren; Jeff (Catherine) and two great grandchildren; Micah, Liesl, Arden (Breanna) and two great grandchildren; and Jordana; Marcia (Stephen Steckler), grandchildren Meghan, Matthew (Laura). Andy is also survived by two brothers Peter (age 99) and Ben (age 90). Andy graduated from Briercrest Bible College in 1952, worked briefly with Canadian Sunday School Mission, and spent a few years in construction before entering a successful business career as owner/operator of an excavating business in Winnipeg (1955-1964) and franchise owner of Macleods Hardware Stores in Rainy River, Ontario (1964-1969) and Stonewall, Manitoba (1969-1980). Andy & Edna remained in Stonewall until 1986 and he was a voluntary representative for the Manitoba Region of Wycliffe Bible Translators. They moved closer to their growing family in Mission, BC in 1986 and then to Abbotsford in 1994. In 2013 after Edna’s passing, Andy moved to Menno Place’s independent living Primrose Gardens, followed by a move to their Assisted Living in April 2019 and long term care in December 2019, until his passing at Menno Hospital. Andy’s spiritual walk with Jesus Christ dictated his life. He read his Bible every day – reading, learning, and understanding scripture was vital to him. His church leadership involvement in earlier years was witness of his unfaltering faith. He was an avid reader of theological and related books throughout his 40-year retirement. Andy would often say how good God has been to him – he was grateful and gracious. He was a loving and supportive husband to Edna for 62 years. His strong work ethic drove him, and his businesses flourished. He was proud of each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. All of this was built on a foundation of love and service to his Lord Jesus Christ. His love and faithfulness to God has been a powerful example to many.
