Anne Janzen was born to Dietrich and Justina Wiebe on May 1, 1940 at their family farm home near Morden, Manitoba. Anne was the fifth daughter, the youngest in a family of ten children.
When she was four the family moved from Manitoba to British Columbia to a farm off Ross Road. Later they moved into Abbotsford to a little house on Bevan Avenue. She went to the nearby Abbotsford High School until about the 10th grade when she left to work in the family dry goods store.
Around that time, she met Bud Janzen. They were married in 1958 and built a little house on Wildrose. Both Bud and Anne worked in the Wiebe family grocery store, the Food Center on Clearbrook Road. In 1959 they welcomed their first son, Michael, and a year later their second son, Darrel. In 1965 their daughter, Connie, was born and shortly after they moved to their farm out on Townline Road.
In 1972, after the store was sold, they packed up the family and moved north to Chetwynd, BC where they purchased a mobile home park and a cabin on Moberly Lake. They spent a year fixing up the trailer park and then sold both properties and moved the family to the Okanagan. They had a modest house up the hill in Peachland and continued to buy additional investment properties.
In 1975 they moved back to the Fraser Valley and lived in Mission until 1984 when they came full circle and ended up back in Abbotsford off Delair Road.
In December 1993, Bud passed away. Anne continued to live in the same home until 2015 when an accident plus her deteriorating health made it no longer possible for her to safely live in her home. After a brief stay in the hospital, she moved into Worthington-Cottage.
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025, Anne transitioned to heaven.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bud, her parents, her sisters (Margaret, Nettie, Helen, and Mary) and three brothers (Peter, Dick, and Jake), and survived by two brothers (Chuck and Hank).
She leaves to mourn her passing, son Mike (Darcy) Janzen; son Darrel (Berenice) Janzen; daughter, Connie Janzen; grandchildren Derek (Brooke), Kevin (Neelam), Taylor, Alec (Ale), and Tianna; great grandchildren Charli, Dax, Cruz, Kayden, Zion, Jade, Ocean, Emily and Amy; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road in Abbotsford, BC followed by interment at Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to join the immediate family after the internment at Ricky’s Country Restaurant, 32080 Marshall Road, Abbotsford.
