Jim was born in Wilkie, Saskatchewan in 1941 to Joseph and Louise. His childhood was filled with many fond memories growing up on the farm. As a young man, Jim attended the University of Saskatchewan and spent time in the Air Force flying the fighter jet CF104 Starfighter, before taking over the family farm and eventually making his way to BC.
A few of Jim's favourite things were: talking about cars, working on cars, especially Lincolns, and going to car shows. Jim enjoyed watching his favourite baseball team the Blue Jays play, being involved in various football pools, tending to his gardens, playing pool, watching birds and other wildlife, reading the newspaper and doing his sudoku, and of course, a good A & W burger. Jim also enjoyed spending time at the Royal Canadian Legion.
He will be missed by his wife of 27 years, Carole; his children, Shila and Greg (Andrea); stepdaughters Linda (Norm), Lorraine; stepson George (Maritza); grandchildren, Tuesday, Zoe (Josh), Zak, Molly; step grandsons, Kyle, Justin, Matthew; one great-grandchild, Eden; siblings, Vince (Donna), Carol (Rick), Mary (Brien), Theresa (John), as well as his many friends within the Cedar Springs community.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Louise; siblings, Barb (Arnie), Gregory; and granddaughter, Ruby. As well as many well-loved dogs, Pal, all three Bings, and Jake.
A service for Jim will be held in the Spring of 2026. Details to follow. Thank you to the Abbotsford Hospital Medical ward for their care for Jim during this time.
As Jim loved all things furry and four legged, memorial donations may be made to the BCSPCA Abbotsford or an animal society of your choosing. Donations may also be made to the Royal Canadian Legion.
