Bernie is survived by his loving wife, of 57 years, Pat and their four children; Son David (Mari-fel), Daughters Christine (Rick) and Kelly and Son Craig (Amy).
Bernie was born July 26, 1944 in Willingdon Alberta. He Graduated from University of Alberta in 1966 when he received the "Pharmacology Award" as well as the "Most Likely to Succeed Award". With a growing family he relocated for new opportunities, moving to Mission then settling in Abbotsford.
His career in Corrections started in 1974, about a year after the first inmates began receiving psychiatric care in a federal hospital setting. He was promoted to Team Leader in 1978. Bernie was awarded a Citation by the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada in 2000 along with many other citations he gathered over his career.
Even when his career was on track he was very practical with money, always remembering growing up in hard times. Bernie was involved in various community activities as a volunteer, faithfully tithing to his favorite church organizations and had made several Missionary trips abroad.
He loved travelling with his wife. 2.5 times around the world and still had trips planned for the near future. He always made his family feel safe and secure in our own little world. Making sure that we only knew about the good things in life.
Always there to make life better. And he sure did..... he is already greatly missed!
