Blanche was born February 19, 1923 on the family farm near Carlea, SK, and passed into the arms of Jesus December 1, 2025 in Abbotsford, BC at the age of 102 years and nine months. She was the seventh of 13 children born to Ralph “Roy” and Ethel Snider. At the age of six, she gave her life to the Lord—a commitment she kept throughout her life. She completed high school, received her diploma from Two Rivers Bible Institute and went on to graduate as a State Registered Nurse from Toronto Western Hospital in 1952. Her career spanned Switzerland, Chad, England, Uganda and Canada. In 1966 she left Africa and returned to Canada where she married LeRoy Hitchcock. They lived on his farm near Pontrilas, SK and she worked as a nurse at Nipawin Union Hospital until she retired in 1985. In 1997, they left the farm and moved into Nipawin. Blanche enjoyed 24 years of retirement before LeRoy passed away in February 2009. That fall, she moved to Abbotsford where she lived until her passing.
She is survived by her youngest brother Dean (wife Lillian) of Penticton, BC and numerous nieces and nephews.
