

Bruce Anthony Lewis was a caring son, brother, uncle, and friend. He left this world suddenly on December 22, 2022, at age 44 in his home in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. Bruce was born to Allan Lewis and Beryl Barnes (nee Hazel) on January 21, 1978, in Jamaica. When he was 12, he moved to Vancouver, Canada with his dad and has lived in Canada ever since.
In high school, Bruce developed a love of football and grew into a strong athlete. He enjoyed attending live sporting events with friends and was a big fan of the BC Lions. Bruce loved travelling home to Jamaica and the Grand Cayman Islands to visit his mom and siblings for quality family time where he planned adventures around the islands. As a long-time employee for Corrections Canada his light-hearted spirit helped him forge friendly relationships with his colleagues. Bruce was well liked by all who met him. Known for his loyalty and commitment to his friendships Bruce was often considered ‘part of the family.’ His beaming smile and infectious laugh were unmatched.
He is survived by his parents Allan Lewis and Beryl Barnes, step-mother Catherine Lewis, and siblings Sophia Phuran, Tatiana General, Antoinette Dell, Tracey Barnes-Fagan, Crystal Barnes, Daryl Newell, and Dwight Barnes Jr. Host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on January 20, 2023, at the Matsqui Community Hall, 33676 St. Olaf Avenue, Abbotsford, BC V4X 1T6. The family has requested that attendees arrive in bright, colourful attire in remembrance of Bruce’s joyful spirit. Burial to follow at Hazelwood Cemetery 34070 Hazelwood Avenue Abbotsford.
