With deep sadness and full hearts, we share the passing of Carol Ann Hedland, who departed this life peacefully on August 31, 2025, in Mission, British Columbia, at the age of 79. A long-time resident of Abbotsford, BC, Carol was surrounded by the love of her family in her final moments.
Born on April 10, 1946, Carol lived a life defined by compassion, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to those around her. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, trusted friend, and a caring teacher. Her warmth, sincerity, and ability to make everyone feel seen and heard made her someone people naturally gravitated toward.
Carol’s life was a beautiful reflection of the values she held dear: love, compassion, generosity, integrity and grace. She gave wholeheartedly to her family, always placing their needs above her own. She believed in caring for others and meeting life with humour and grace. She found joy in the simple things—heartfelt conversations, time spent in her garden, and shared meals around the family table. She believed in the power of kindness and lived each day with purpose and compassion.
Beyond her family, Carol was a dedicated elementary school teacher for over 45 years, primarily at Ten-Broeck Elementary in Abbotsford. She loved teaching and adored her students. As a teacher, she made a meaningful impact wherever she went. She made everyone feel welcome and cared for, always quick with a smile, a laugh, or a comforting word.
Carol’s passing will be deeply felt by her husband of 57 years, Larry. Larry and Carol shared a love of the ages. Their marriage was built on laughter, love, adventure and dancing. Carol will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Marlo (Brent) Cara (Kyle), and Krista (Steve), as well as her grandchildren Drew, Hanne, Benjamin and Kaia. She also leaves behind her three sisters and their husbands: Joyce (Neil), Judy (Alex), Dona (Glen) and extended family, dear friends, and many whose lives were brightened by her presence.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 26 in the Secret Garden at Ripples Estate Winery located on 3387 Tolmie Road in Abbotsford from 1pm to 6pm. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the incredible life Carol lived. All are welcome to attend and pay tribute to a woman whose legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of many.
Carol’s beautiful spirit, amazing strength, and radiant love remain etched in the lives she touched. Her memory is a blessing, and her life a shining example of how one person can truly make a difference.
