Born in Windsor, Ontario on September 15 1967, Heather graduated from Central Public School, Vincent Massey Secondary School and the University of Guelph where she met and fell in love with her husband, Larry. They married in 1991 and lived in Guelph and Waterloo, Ontario before moving to Abbotsford, BC.
Our memories of Heather are characterized by joy, celebration and hospitality. She loved hosting people in their home, dancing, playing games, hiking, biking, walking, skiing, canoeing and being outside in nature. Whether walking with friends or swimming across Fletcher Lake at the family cottage, it was always about connecting with people and with God in His creation.
Heather had an infectious laugh and desire to know people deeply. She loved family traditions and used her creative skills to honour and celebrate many birthdays and other milestones. She enjoyed a variety of interests including music, gardening, mentoring others, writing notes of encouragement and the study and memorization of Scripture. She frequently prayed with friends, neighbours, relatives and complete strangers she met along the way, bringing them before her Heavenly Father. She had a strong, abiding faith that could not be shaken, even amidst deep suffering and pain.
Larry and Heather had great joy in parenting together and raising David and Natalie. Their home was open to many and overflowed with the peace and love of Christ. Family life was characterized by serving others, living missionally and nurturing their community.
Heather is dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of experiencing her love, joy and faith in Jesus. Her loyalty and genuine care shone through her encounters with everyone from close friends and family to the medical staff who guided her through her cancer journey of almost 10 years. While we grieve with Heather’s earthly departure, we celebrate with Heaven for her arrival there, now free of pain and made whole. Hallelujah!
