Heidi was so helpful when I started working at Magicuts. She was never in my face gossiping or bossing. She was humble and cared about other people’s feelings. She also taught me how to fold the towels correctly. It was something that bugged her it if was done wrong and I will forever fold those towels the way she would. It seems like a small thing but it’s a part of what made her an individual. So many clients trusted her with their hair and I answered countless calls of people asking if Heidi was in. Heidi also ate so healthy and dressed really nicely. I already miss her. When I started she was my favourite person to work with and that never really changed.

I remember going to the Canada Day parade with Heidi, Julien, and Auntie Terry and with my girls (Maria & Karla). Heidi and I for some silly reason kept shouting “Happy New Year’s” every time we saw a flag – which was lots of times! I also remember Heidi, running out to get balloons and candies for the kids.
Heidi loved both her boys and talked a lot about them! I’ll miss her so much!

I have known Heidi for many years working in Magicuts. From day one I liked Heidi, her gorgeous figure, smile and sense of humor. She was loved by everybody, was a good friend and a very hard working person. Heidi was the happiest person in the world when she got pregnant. She enjoyed every moment and we were all so happy for her. I loved working with Heidi and having her for a friend. I am never going to forget her smile. She will be remembered forever.

Heidi loved Bon Jovi, Boney M Xmas music and Michael Jackson dancers. She was excited that Julien was going to see the Canucks and Senators. Heidi was a great lady, loyal to a fault. She could never tell enough stories about the great things you guys were doing. Playing hockey or hanging out windows.

You do not know me but I was a very good friend of your mom’s when we were in high school. She was in grade 9 and I was in grade 10 when we met. Her nick name at that time was Fifi. She loved to do things outside. She loved dogs. Her favourite dog’s name was Cujo. Your mom had lots of good friends and we would like to go to the movies and ride horses and she loved to go for rides with me on my motorcycle. We did a lot of bike riding as well. Your mom loved to go to the San Juan Islands in Washington and camp. Your mom was my best friend for a long time. I miss her a lot and I am sure that she is still watching over you too.

Heidi was an amazing woman. You kids were her life. She was always talking about you guys with all her clients while doing their hair. Your pictures were always carefully placed on the mirror on the station she worked at. Heidi loved you all sooo much. I always enjoyed working with her! She made the end of the day come fast. I will never forget her. As long as you keep her in your heart and memories you will find she is never too far away.

When mom was young, she grew up on a farm in Thunder Bay. She loved riding her bike. She played with the kids up the road which was a hill. One day when she was riding down the hill the brakes didn’t work and mom drove the bike in the ditch. She had some bumps but as soon as the bike was fixed, mom was back on the bike.

Uncle Jack was the only boy in the family. Poor Jack had 3 sisters. Uncle Jack loved to tease mom and mom would get so mad at him. If mom was asked a question and she was angry, her answer would be “Find out”.

Julien & Donovan, I got to know your mom when I would go to your grandma Ypma’s for coffee. Your mom would stop by for a visit and I would be there visiting her with your Aunty Terry. We always had a great visit and you boys would make us all laugh. You are both very special.


I will never forget the conversations that would start with Teresa and end with all of us in stitches with laughter. Of all the many different toasted sandwiches on Saturdays that we invented, the best one had to be the spicy prosciutto with roasted red peppers and goat cheese on rye! I will never eat a pickled peperoncini pepper without thinking of our Heidi! I could never imagine this day and how it would feel but every time I will make a trip to the “prom” store on a Saturday without her in my head. With a great sense of humour and the Best co-worker and friend a lost girl could ask for I will always have her in my thoughts. Your smile will echo in my eternity.

I have many memories of your mom, Heidi. She used to be my hairdresser almost 20 years ago, but mostly I remember her as the dear sister of your Auntie “T” or Terry. Her face always lit up when she talked about you boys, telling stories of what you had been up to – Julien with the cats, Donovan dancing to Michael Jackson. More recently, since you’ve lived in the same house as Aunti T, your mom would come down with you while I was visiting, having to keep you out of mischief with all of T’s stuff! 
Boys, you were the light of her life and she was always having fun with you – calling you by nick-names, etc. Your mom had a wonderful sense of humour and you brought this out in her. She was very proud to be your mom and I am grateful to have known her.

I knew Heidi as a hairdresser and Terry’s sister. When I got married, Heidi did my hair. She opened the salon early and made sure that my pillbox hat would NOT move! I’m sure I looked funny driving away – fancy hair and t-shirt. I always smile at that. She was such a good sport to come in early for me. I appreciated that!

Where do you start with Heidi, she was bigger than life! I first met Heidi when I was 16. I was in a “foreign” land and just inherited three new cousins and she was the awesome girlfriend of one of them. She took me under her wing and treated me like “one of the girls”, I felt so “cool” to hang out with Heidi as a teenager. She had the ability to make me always feel welcomed and was always interested in my teenage stories. She gave me a job so I had spending money for those girly things she taught me about so well – my money came in and out usually in the same day with Heidi in tow “approving” all the purchases. I remember feeling so honoured the day I got to be her maid of honour at her wedding – able to be a part of the special day of the lady I had always looked up to!
The world will never be the same, but all the wonderful memories and endless laughs shared with Heidi will carry all of us through the times ahead. She left the two best parts of her behind for all of us to watch grow and enjoy, she lives forever through them.

Hi, my name is Lana Roach and what I would like you to know about your mother Heidi is that she came into my life at a time when I needed friends. I had lost my son in a car accident and Heidi was there for me to cry on her shoulder so were all the ladies at Magicuts, but she was extra sensitive and caring. She used to talk about you kids all the time and share with us all your life’s achievements. She loved you and expressed that in the stories she told about you like how both of you as babies loved to throw things and it was funny how you both did it. I want you to know that in the short time you had your mom she loved you dearly and is watching over you now.

Heidi was a Joy, true to her name. We became clients of hers in 2001. Ten years and a hundred cuts later we became friends. We celebrated her children with her and she was very proud of them. We thought we lost her when she moved to Ontario and then much to our pleasant surprise she was back. We’ve lost her now and we will miss her. Heidi you are in our hearts. Heidi and I worked together for a short time. Often we would laugh at the same time at the smallest things. She had a great laugh. We stood around and would joke about everything.
People would ask us why we were always laughing and she would say just because.

Heidi and I loved going to Karen’s and just let the kids go, literally! We’d sit by her pool and relax while poor Karen would run rampant after all you guys.
At work, my favorite memory was a few months ago. Heidi and I were reading the same Avon book and as we flipped through pages we kept saying the same things at the same time, being really sarcastic and laughing our heads off.
A long time ago, there was a snowstorm and Heidi, Karen and I were at work. Everyone else was panicking about driving home, but not us; we shoveled the snow off Karen’s van and went to Earl’s restaurant for a beer. Then we shoveled more snow off the van and drove back to work to clean off our cars to go home!

Heidi, I’m not sure I can put in words what you mean to me. You are a wondrous giving person who always had time for us.
There are far too many memories to try and recount them all here but one is more vivid than all the others. It was the evening you and Kieran brought the boys out to visit Heather and I at the RV site on the freeway and I put you to work cutting my hair. I sat there and was thinking how profoundly lucky I was to have a daughter-in-law who was such a gifted mother for my grandchildren. Nothing made me more at ease.
Heidi, I love you and miss you and will think of you every day.

Heidi was my hair stylist for the past 4 years & I found out today that she is no longer with us.  How very sad for her friends & family.  She was a fabulous person & always had a funny story to tell.  I didn't know her personally - but from the times she cut my hair - I heard about her family & how very proud she was of her husband & sons.  My condolences to her family and friends.  She will be greatly missed.
