Irma Marie Enns (nee Klassen) passed from the shackles of this life into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on October 29, 2019. We on earth are much poorer because she is no longer in the body that had been failing her for the last 17½ years. If it is possible for Heaven to be richer, then this has happened.

Irma was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to George and Annie Klassen on April 25, 1951. They predeceased her, as did her brother George, and her sisters: Kay, Annie, Dora, and Sue. She was also predeceased by her father-in-law George Enns. She leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Len, her children Kevin & Teri Enns, her grandchildren Jesse & Laura Enns, Rachel Enns, and her great grandchildren, Aedan, Caleb and Brynlee, and her mother-in-law, Maria Enns.

Irma was an accomplished pianist, who accompanied church services and also enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a gourmet cook who would try a dish in a restaurant and say, “I think I can make this at home,” and then she would improve on it! For 18 years Irma worked for School District 34, forging many friendships with staff and students alike. She had volunteered at W.J. Mouat in her son’s senior year, then when he started college she did too. Excelling in her studies at Fraser Valley, including typing at 160 words/minute! For many years Irma would sit and type out with her fingers on her leg (or Len’s) what was running through her mind! This was the same hand-eye coordination that allowed her to excel at sports (volleyball, curling, basketball, and cheerleading) in her younger years. Her son, Kevin, notes that it also helped her whoop him at everything basketball related while he was growing up - though she said she was “trying to let him win!”

Irma was the Rolex that kept Len ticking, an adept organizer and planner who lovingly enabled him to excel as a husband, father, salesman, and friend. She enjoyed exercising her spiritual gift of hospitality with family and friends, and many of her extended family and friends will feel the pain of her passing - but will rejoice that her suffering and trials here have ended in eternal joy. Her Saviour said in John 14, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” He has prepared a place He did come and get her And she is with Him!

Our special thanks to Dr. Milne, Irma’s caring family physician, and to the staff and volunteers, and fellow patients and families of the Holmberg House Hospice, who provided comfort and care for both Irma, and Len, in her last weeks.

Len, Kevin, Teri and family,

Many memories stand out: teaching Kevin in Sunday School and how involved Len, and Irma were in how he was doing; all your Christmas decorations!; the deep love Len and Irma had for each other; your genuine enjoyment of each other; laughter; the Joy of knowing she is free from her body and present with our Lord.

May you know that you walk forward in the knowledge you will see Irma again, undergirded by the prayers and encouragement of your friends and wrapped up in the unwavering closeness of our Heavenly Father.
