It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearly loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather Jacob Duane Thiessen. He passed away on September 22, 2021 into the arms of his Heavenly Father. He was born on June 1, 1933 in Swalwell, Alberta. He was the baby of the family and liked to remind us of that fact. He married Ruby Braun on July 29, 1962. They were married until May 2015 when mom passed away. He was father to four children; grandfather to four children, and great-grandfather to four children.
Jac loved to sing and play guitar. He also loved western movies, Zane Grey and Louis Lamour books, taking road trips, playing chess and Scrabble, completing cryptograms, crosswords, setting puzzles and Suduko.
Jac loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He LIVED his faith by loving everyone and by being a man of integrity and faithfulness. His sense of humour was with him to the very end. If you asked him “how are you feeling” he would answer “with my hands”.
Jac worked as a cheese maker in Kleefeld, Manitoba; a gas attendant at Ross Ravine; owned and operated a general store in Ebor, Manitoba; manager of many Revelstoke building materials stores (Brandon, Baldur, Hamiota & Morden – all in Manitoba); worked at Chimo Building in Daysland, Alberta; worked at Blackwood Building in Abbotsford.
Jac and Ruby loved road trips to Alberta and Manitoba to visit with family. Jac loved to record his own music and there are a few CDs and cassette tapes scattered throughout his family and friends.
Jac is survived by his children: Rosemarie (Darren), Dan, Elaine (Paul), Ron; his grandchildren Terra (Chris), Daniel (Jen), Angela, Desirai; his great-grandchildren Christina, Tamra, Lilyann, Jacob; his brother Harvey (Barb), his sister Leesa, and sister-in-law Leona.
Family will have their own private service at later date.
