It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of James Michael Polywkan at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on Monday September 18, 2023 with his family and close friends by his side a few weeks short of his 66th birthday.
Jim was born in Saskatoon and grew up in Biggar, Saskatchewan then moved to Abbotsford, BC with his parents in 1980.
Jim was a huge sports fan and loved his teams the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions and Toronto Blue Jays. He had the opportunity to attend many Canuck and Lions games.
He was also a lover of music. He loved to sing and listen to his favorite tunes and attended numerous concerts including his favorites Shania Twain and Kenny Rogers.
He also loved to travel and was able to make numerous trips to Toronto, Las Vegas, Alaska, and various places around BC.
His other interests were reading, watching scary movies and clocking the miles on his bike.
Even with all the personal challenges he faced in his life he remained optimistic with a real zest for life along with an amazing sense of humor and an infectious laugh.
Jim was a kind and caring soul with a big heart and made a huge impact on everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his great story telling and his ability to always make people laugh.
Jim was predeceased by his parents John and Stella Polywkan, his sister Elaine Todoruk and brother in law Doug Todoruk.
He is survived by his brother Bob (Marilyn), his sister Joan Yaroshko (Graham Edney), nephews David Todoruk, Michael and Brian Polywkan, Colin Edney and niece Kimberly Hooper along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by the very loving and caring staff at Ashley House where he resided for the last few years.
Jim will be sorely missed by a very large group of extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held in Abbotsford at a later date.
