John was born to parents William & Margaret at St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver, on September 27th 1948. He grew up in Burnaby as the middle child of five; having 3 brothers and one older sister. He always loved playing sports, watching them on TV, and could always be seen wearing his Canucks or BC Lions caps. As years passed, John found himself drawn to the outdoors and enjoyed a number of jobs that allowed him to experience many of the natural surroundings B.C. has to offer. John adapted to his surroundings as he moved around the province, working as a fisherman, a logger, a beachcomber, a trucker, and eventually putting his skills to work in property maintenance and contracting. For many years, John had his own business and was well liked by all his customers. He enjoyed living and working, not only in the lower mainland, but also in the Queen Charlotte Islands, Cranbrook, and finally settling in Osoyoos with his wife Linda, closer to his mother and stepfather.
John and Linda met in 1997, at Chester House Care Facility in Vancouver B.C. where Linda was the manager and John was the maintenance man. When the repairs were done, John and Linda would always spend time together chatting over coffee. Over time, they became very close friends and eventually fell in love. Their relationship continued to grow and they were married on July 30th, 2009 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in the lower mainland for a short period and eventually moved to Osoyoos in 2007, to be closer to his aging parents. It was in Osoyoos, where John and Linda bought their first home. John loved the scenic mountains and orchards and took pride in the half-acre property with numerous fruit trees and lots of lawn to cut. You could always find John riding the lawnmower, working in the yard, or spending endless hours on his greatest joy: watering and tinkling with the sprinkler system. John continued to work as a maintenance man at Heritage House in Oliver, B.C. until 2014, when he suffered his first stroke, which forced him into retirement. It was at this time that John decided to get a cat, which they named Misty. John loved his cat. As years passed, his health continued to decline and John and Linda made the decision to move back to the lower mainland to be closer to family and health care. The decision to move away from Osoyoos was extremely difficult for John, as he loved his home and the beautiful Okanagan. In December 2021, they purchased an apartment in Abbotsford, B.C. and were settling in and making new friends. Sadly, John Fraser passed away August 12, 2022 in Abbotsford Regional Hospital, at the age of 73.
John will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Linda, and all his family and friends.
