Katherine was born to Peter and Gertrude (Boldt) Dyck and grew up on a farm in Grassy Lake, AB., together with Henry, Peter, John, Elizabeth, Helen, Mary, and baby Annie who died in infancy.
Katherine graduated from the M.B. Bible College in Winnipeg with both a diploma in Missions, and her Bachelor of Religious Education; also an Education diploma from the University in Calgary, AB. She then taught school in Bow Island for 3 years, and 12 years in Lethbridge, AB. At this time she also cared for her aged parents until they were promoted to heaven.
In 1987 she moved to Abbotsford, B.C. Here she met and married Herbert Heppner, a widower with six children
Cancer attacked Katherine at age 29, and kept spreading in spite of numerous surgeries. She said, “Cancer can kill me, but it can’t get me down,” and it didn’t until she finished her race of life and went to be with Jesus Christ, whom she loved and served, on October 15, 2020.
