It is with profound sadness that the family of Madison Nadine Byers announce her passing on January 17, 2025 at the age of 29 years old. Madi is free from LFS and cancer, reaping her eternal reward in heaven. Madi was preceded in death by her father Trent Byers, grandfather Neil Richard Byers, and granny and grandpa, John and Lorna Murray. She is survived by her mother Lori Byron (Greg), brother, Sawyer Byers (Bella), sister Ainsley Byers, grandma Heather Byers, step siblings Connor, Joel, and Brook, along with many aunties, uncles, and cousins.
Madi was born in Abbotsford, BC on May 25th, 1995 to Trent and Lori Byers. She attended her schooling years in Abbotsford, graduating from Robert Bateman Secondary in 2013. Growing up, Madi’s passions included caring for children, church activities, competitive dance, theatre, singing, camping, and boating. In high school Madi had a spirit of volunteerism; she was in leadership and acted as a peer tutor. She spent many fun summers as a camper and counsellor at Camp Stillwood. Madi’s most important achievement in life was accepting the Lord as her personal saviour, at a very early age, never wavering in her faith. She was baptized in the summer of 2015.
After high school Madi went to Summit Pacific College, and enjoyed an internship at Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly before joining the children’s ministry team at Northview Community Church. She enjoyed volunteering on the worship team for Northview young adults, and volunteering at high school youth group. Church community and serving God was Madi’s greatest passion and joy in life.
Due to a rare hereditary genetic disorder, called Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, Madi developed glioblastoma in April, 2023. She fought courageously, never losing her optimism or sense of humour. Cancer’s gift was the platform it gave her to share her faith, and to inspire others to live boldly with great joy. God was in her story throughout the battle.
A celebration of life will be held at Northview Community Church on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:00 am, followed by a reception. Madi will be interred in Penticton, B.C. with her dad at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating toward a personalized memorial bench for Madi and her late father Trent ([email protected]). The family would like to thank Dr. Egolf, Dr. Goldbach, Dr. Asif, countless amazing nurses, as well as the staff and volunteers at Holmberg House.
