Piet Fictorie

November 12, 1923November 27, 2019

In his 97th year, our dear Dad, Opa and Great Opa, Piet Fictorie, went home to be with his Lord on November 27, 2019. His life was filled with joy as well as much sorrow, but through it all he never lost his faith in God and continually reminded us to trust Jesus in all we do.

Piet was born on November 12, 1923, in Zwartemeer, the Netherlands. Piet married Hennie de Goede in 1952 and immigrated to Canada later that year.

Piet was the beloved husband of the late Hennie Fictorie who predeceased him in 2013 and father of the late Alice (1960 age 1 year), Henry (1972 age 16 years), and Allan (1972 age 11 years). He will be greatly missed by his children John and Gertie Fictorie of Abbotsford, BC; Grace and John Brus of London, ON; and Carl and Kathy Fictorie of Sioux Center, IA; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Peter and Donna Fictorie (John, Aaron, James); Hanna Fictorie (Kalen); Fred Fictorie; Heidi and Darren Hoogland (Evan, Taylor, Lynden); Andrea and Rylan Brink (Shaun); Randall Brus; Jody and Josh Brix; Shawn Brus and Sophia Vandersluis; Jonathan and Emily Fictorie; Katherine Fictorie; and Benjamin Fictorie. He is predeceased by 6 siblings in the Netherlands and survived by sister Trijntje Kroeze of Emmen, the Netherlands; and siblings-in-law Henk de Goede of Abbotsford, BC; Truus de Goede of Lethbridge, AB; and Kor van’t Leven, Adrie and Jopie de Goede, and Janny Okker, all of the Netherlands.

The family thanks the staff at Menno Home for their care and compassion to Piet.

Piet Fictorie

have a memory or condolence to add?

Ed Van Woerden

Dear Fictorie Family:
I have fond memories of living with your Mom and Dad during my first year of teaching. My favorite memory of your Dad was when I forgot my lunch - he dropped it off at the school office for me! Wow! Then I knew that I was in a good place.
I really enjoyed the time spent with your parents.
May God give you comfort in the times ahead, as he will be dearly missed.
Ed Van Woerden.
