Robert, or Bob, as he was known to most, began his lifelong journey as an artist as a young child who loved to draw and paint. After graduating with a degree in art from the University in Kansas, he took a job in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he showed in numerous galleries, co-founded a gallery, and received several government commissions. Bob continued to paint and show his work throughout his life, most recently in Smithers and Terrace, BC.
Bob’s faith as a Christian was an integral part of who he was. His passion was studying the Bible, specifically eschatology. He pastored several home churches and groups of people at different times in his life, most recently in Kitseguecla, BC.
Bob was the life of the party. He was a great dancer. He loved to tell stories, but he also had the gift of drawing stories out of others. He enjoyed people, and they responded to him. Even in his final days, in Abbotsford Hospital while battling Acute Leukemia, he was a favorite with doctors and nurses.
Robert Mansfield leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 45 years, Daria Mansfield, two sons, Benjamin and Richard, and three grandchildren, Andrew, 15, Alex, 12, Nikki, 3, as well as his brother, Richard, and sister, Barb. He will never be forgotten, by those who knew and loved him.
