Daughter: Sharon Ruth Wannamaker was born to Norma and Ross Wannamaker in Ontario along with her siblings Elizabeth, Eugene, Peter, Janet & Harry. At a young age her father, Ross, passed away and her mother remarried, giving Sharon a new father, Dave Austad and a new brother Davey. She and her siblings grew up as a close-knit family which continues to this day.
Wife and Mother: When she grew up, she met a charming fellow named David Wilson. They fell in love and married, then moved to Alberta, near Edmonton for a while. They tried to have an extensive family but out of nine tries they only had one son, Wayne Wilson. As time passed, the young couple grew in separate ways and eventually went their separate ways. Sharon and Wayne moved closer to her family in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia.
There she found the love of her life, Roger Lehr or did he find her? God knows but he’s not telling yet. Roger was a gentle giant that filled her heart and life with love and joy as her daily companion till 2013. While she never had any more children, she freely gave her love to Wayne and children she fostered. Wayne remembers several children coming and leaving., being mothered by his mom during their time with her.
Seven years ago, Roger was laid to rest with his parents. Sharon was left to continue on without him but always with a cheerful attitude when in public but missing her hearts joy when alone. Wayne noticed that she took to sleeping on Roger’s side of the bed.
Grandmother: Wayne married a single mom of 3 giving Sharon instantly a daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren. Wayne and Stephanie went on to have 2 more children together. In 2008 Sharon’s first granddaughter Danna Coull-Wilson was born and Stephanie remembers the sheer joy Sharon had while holding her new granddaughter. Sharon even teased Roger that she got to hold Danna first. In 2013 when her second granddaughter Jenna Coull-Wilson was born, Roger stole the show and held Jenna first when she was hours old as she stopped by ICU to visit him as she left the hospital after birth. Roger had come home from the ICU hours later to tease Sharon that he had met Jenna already and what a cutie she was and Sharon agreed when she met Jenna the next day. It was a running joke between Roger and Sharon about who got to hold who first until Rogers untimely passing.
Friend: In Wayne’s speaking to Helen, a long-time friend of Sharon’s, he learned about their daily phone calls to make sure each was fine and survived another day. Something she had done with her sister’s Elizabeth and Janet until their own passing.
Her health, which was never really great, finally led to Abbotsford Regional Hospital. This is where she left us without anyone noticing her go. Her body finally rested on September 20 at 6:18 pm.
Please give our Hello’s to Roger and all our loved ones Sharon. We will miss you.
