Valerie Lynne Swerhun

July 26, 1962 – October 5, 2020
Obituary of Valerie Lynne Swerhun
IN THE CARE OF

Woodlawn Funeral Home

Valerie Lynne Swerhun was blessed to Ray and Lynne (nee Blyth) Swerhun on July 26, 1962. Born and raised in Vancouver, the family lived a few houses down from Renfrew Park where her and Leonard were avid swimmers and active members of the local swim club. As a family they travelled often with or to visit relatives widely spread across western Canada. Expo 1967 was a huge family endeavour.

With a dozen aunts and uncles plus their spouses and over 20 first cousins, there was always an abundance of family around. Living only 2 blocks from the Renfrew bus to downtown and the PNE/ Coliseum their home became Grand Central for visiting relatives. And gave Val the perfect opportunity to pull her little pranks on us.

Some were funny, others not! All in good fun.

Valerie loved the outdoors and was at her best lounging around Cabo beaches, rafting rivers (like the Tatshenshini in 2000), or just walking her favourite section of the near by Fraser River. The outdoors was her element.

In 1991 Valerie met Keith and began the relationship that would last her life time. Together, they found love and laughter spending many years in Vancouver on Upland Drive before relocating to Abbotsford in 2006. As Keith frequently travelled with his job, Valerie was content to maintain the home and provide a loving environment for her beloved rescue cats. One poor dear with only three legs.

Love, life, and laughter connect us as we remember Valerie, her role in our lives and connection to our hearts. xo
