

Ada Lois Landis, 97, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Funeral services will be 3:00p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Saint Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. Eduardo Rivera and Rev. Robert P. Kelley officiating under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Interment will be at 1:00p.m., Monday, February 6, 2012 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, TX.
Lois was born July 23, 1914 to Robert J. and Mattie Craft and lived most of her life in Fort Worth. She moved to Abilene in the early 1990’s after the death of her husband of more than 50 years, Walter Ewing Landis in 1987. She had resided at Covenant Place in Abilene for the past seven years.
Lois was a devoted wife and mother. Throughout her life her first concern was always the wellbeing of her family. She was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert J. Craft II; two sisters, Lucille Craft and Doris Jean Boyd; and her son-in-law Milford LeVene Hughes.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Carol Hughes of Abilene; a son, Walter Landis and wife, Nancy of Vienna, Virginia; grandchildren, Blake Hughes of Midland, Leah Nobles of Abilene, Marci Hughes Nelson and husband, Miles, of Midland, Valerie Landis Burke and husband Brian of Virginia, and Jennifer Landis of Arizona; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Anne Landis Chisenhall of San Antonio.
