Alvin E. Lashlee, 89, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at his residence in Clyde, TX. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 29, 2013 at 1:00p.m. in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., Abilene, Texas, with Rev. Janice Six officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00p.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Lashlee, Bill Lashlee, DC Roberts, Carlos Moreno, Matt Lashlee, and Kevin Lashlee.
Alvin E. Lashlee was born in San Angelo, TX to Benjamin and Willie D. Smith Lashlee. He served in the United States Army and Air Force for a total of 26 years and was especially proud of his Normandy Campaign Medal. Alvin also worked at the Abilene State Supported Living Center (formally Abilene State School) for 16 years.
After retirement, Alvin and his wife traveled extensively. He was an avid golfer and loved his Boston terriers, Sam and Cid.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; his daughter, Janet Cook; a brother, Bill Lashlee; and a sister, Frankie Roe.
He is survived his daughter Jerri Roberts and her husband, DC of Abilene; two sons, Scott Lashlee and his wife, Rose of Owensboro, KY, and Bill Lashlee and his wife, Rita of Clyde, TX; a sister, Jimmie Clayton of Ft. Worth; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association; Meals on Wheels; or to the charity of your choice.
