Angelita Vela

Angelita "Chita" Vela, 72, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at a local medical center. Graveside services will be 2:00p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St. Abilene, TX. Visitation will be 6:00p.m. Thursday evening, with a rosary starting at 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Angelita was born February 6, 1939 in Hondo, TX to Manuel and Angelita Castillo Flores. She married Leovigildo Vela on December 11, 1961 and he passed away on February 14, 1986. She was a very loving and giving person and was a Catholic.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband.

Survivors include five sons, Thomas, Leo, and Ruben Salinas and Eddie and Sammy Vela; six daughters, Marianita Trejo, Christina Resendiz, Jaunita Munoz, Anna Maria Salinas, Leticia Rodriguez and Susan Salinas; three brothers, Ramon, Jose, and Rudy Flores; two sisters, Lupe Castillo and Teresa Ybarra; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
