Anita Rosel Jacks, age 80, of Abilene, Texas passed away after a lengthy battle with colon cancer, at the Hendrick Hospice Center of Abilene, on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Anita was born December 3, 1940 in Trier, Germany, to Joseph and Rosa Lee Immig Schmidt.
In her younger years, she helped out at the Embassy School, assisting in the education of 1st graders. In 1959, Anita married her lifelong love, Leonard Eldon Jacks, who was an Air Force Sergeant stationed in Bitburg, Germany at the time. The two shared a life-time of love raising their two sons, Leonard Boyd and Scott Joseph. Their travels took them to many Air Force baes in Germany, the United States and Iran, until her husband retired from the Air Force in Abilene, Texas, where she lived until her passing. She and Leonard were married 63 years.
Anita did many things in her life including joining the Military Wife's Club, climbing the ladder to President, Over seeing the military base Thrift Shop where she was the Chairwoman for a few years. She held some of the nicest Christmas Parties over the years, helped to deliver dinners to the elderly, and was even a Den Mother for her children's Boy Scout Troops. Anita was a great cook, enjoyed doing crafts and sewing. Throughout the years she made stuffed animals, sewed and outfits for Cabbage patch Kids, among other things. She also enjoyed spending time with family, babysitting and traveling ,once they retired. In all, Anita was a very good person. May she rest in peace.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard Jacks of Abilene, TX , a son, Leonard Boyd Jacks and Wife, Vera of Conroe, granddaughter Ashely E Golemon and husband Robert Golemon Sr and their children, Robert Golemon Jr and Jackson Golemon, a son, Scott Joseph Jacks of Abilene, a Granddaughter Trista D Holloway and husband Seth T Holloway and their son, Joe Holloway.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by a granddaughter, Christie Anita Jacks.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 S in Abilene. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10 am at Elmwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the Jacks family has asked that donations be made to Ewing's Sarcoma Research at Texas Children's Hospital in memory of Anita's granddaughter, Christie Anita Jacks.
