A Memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home’s Chapel of Faith with David Hargrove officiating. Interment will be private at Elmwood Memorial Park.
A.C. was second of three sons born to the late Roy and Ada (Parker) Vaughn in Clovis, New Mexico. He was raised in Hereford where he learned the importance of hard work at a young age helping out in the families Café. Once he decided the family business was not his choice, he began his lifelong work as a barber. His career started in Kermit, TX at Slims Barbershop and ended with him having owned several of his own shops with his last being Village Barbershop in the River Oaks Shopping Center. Even after selling his own business he still worked up until this month cutting hair at Nelda’s. He married the love of his life Violet Lynn on June 30, 2003, together they enjoyed creating many special memories, traveling, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. A.C. will be remembered for helping others, his unique sense of humor, and telling it like it is. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Betty Lou Vaughn.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Violet Lynn Vaughn; granddaughter, Asia Rigmaiden; his brother, Tommy Vaughn all of Abilene; his brother, Jimmy Vaughn and his wife Judy of Mission, TX; sister-in-law’s Darwinna Bomar, and Melody Hendry; numerous, nieces, nephews, friends, and clients.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in A.C.’s name may be made to the SPCA or charity of your choice.
