It is with great joy that on August 4, 2025, Barbara Ann Martinez departed this life and found her place among the angels. Born in Loraine, Texas on February 18, 1964, Barbara wore many hats and carried many titles. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend to many.
Barbara was married to Jesus D. Martinez, her high school sweetheart, December 30, 1981. They remained married and built a beautiful family and country homestead over their shared 43 years. They were the epitome of dedication and love, in sickness and in health as she passed peacefully with him at her side.
The glue of the family, she was a magnificent host and held many family gatherings under her roof. Known for her elaborate decor, her nieces called her home at Christmas a Hallmark display. A phenomenal chef, she was known for her meals and was constantly requested to prepare Mexican dishes for family celebrations.
Barbara was a shopaholic and could always be found at TJ Maxx or Goodwill with Jesse’s debit card in hand. She spoiled her grandchildren and was quick to give.
Fierce and bold, she had a heart unlike anyone else. Described as sassy, she was opinionated, truthful, and humorous. She was passionate about her family and was quick to stand up for right.
Barbara led a life of service and retired as a legal assistant where she dedicated her work to her community.
Faithful until she slept for the very last time, she was a dedicated Christian and undoubtedly opened her eyes once again whole, healed, and joyful in her Father’s kingdom.
She was the most welcoming, accepting, and wonderful woman. She had many children call her “mom” as she loved to welcome her children’s friends into her home for dinners and weekends.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Jesus “Jesse” Martinez and children, Jesus “Patrick” Martinez and his wife Heather of Tuscola; Daughter Margaret Theresa Martinez and Evan of Abilene.
Parents Everardo J. Martinez and Anita.
