Barbara Ann Tyler

Barbara Ann Keeney was born September 17, 1939 in Coleman County to Thomas Harold Keeney and Carrie Imogene Griffith. Being born in a poor family, Barbara pulled cotton with her family in order to make ends barely meet. Barley finishing elementary didn't slow Barbara down intellectually. She excelled in reading, writing, and arithmetic and took classes in cake decorating as well as becoming a certified dietician and nurse's aide. Barbara finally met James Travis Tyler, Sr., the love of her life, and married September 29, 1964. After marrying James, she devoted her time to being a loving housewife and devoted mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Barbara's loving sense of humor and adventurous nature made her a favorite among the many beloved nieces and nephews she held so dear to her heart. Barbara's gentle spirit and dedication to family will be forever missed by her children and grandchildren. Her love and dedication towards her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ fueled her determination to always forgive and to always keep looking forward. Barbara's favorite saying was "It will all come out in the wash."

A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Fountaingate Fellowship Church with Scott Beard officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Barbara Ann Tyler passed away June 10, 2011 in a Wichita Falls hospital. She eternally now journeys to join those who preceded her in the Lord; her parents, Thomas and Imogene Keeney; a baby sister, Margaret Kay; a daughter, Florinda Renee; nephews, Tommy Starr and Chad Fancovic; grandparents; brother-in-law, Dick Fancovic; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Barbara leaves behind her husband of 46 years, James Travis Tyler; two sons, Lonny Dale Strayhorn of Coleman and James Travis Tyler, Jr. of Abilene; two daughters, Windy Diane McChesney of Wichita Falls and Tammy Jimenez of Hawley; three brothers, Tom Keeney, Doug Keeney, and Donald Keeney, all of Coleman; a sister, Virginia Roach of Coleman; sisters-in-law, Ritha Keeney and Jeanette Keeney, both of Coleman, Bessie Annabelle Tyler of Abilene, Mary Fancovic of Pennsylvania, and Betty Phillips of Abilene; brother-in-law, R.B. Phillips of Abilene; six grandsons, Josh Strayhorn, Cody Strayhorn, and Jaramie Strayhorn, Alex McChesney and Jared McChesney, and John Jordan; four granddaughters, Peyton McChesney, Katt Willis, Tanya Jimenez, and Denise Viel; ten great-grandchildren; as well as, seven nieces, Marlais, Sherry, Tonya, Charity, Barbara, Debbie, and Vickie; six nephews, Dwight, Tim, Buck, Tommy, Terry, and David; several great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and cousins.
