Benina Gonzales

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at St. Francis Pallotti Catholic Church, 826 Cottonwood, Abilene. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Serving as pallbearers will be Bernie Gonzales, Michael Gonzales, Chris Ortiz, Jesse Gonzales, Jacinto Flores, and Brandon Gonzales. A visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday with a rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Benina was born February 13, 1921 to Abenan Hernandez and Simona Gonzales Hernandez in Coleman, Texas. She married Jesus Gonzales. They were married for 55 years. Benina was a homemaker and a member of St. Francis Pallotti Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesus Gonzales and a son, Johnny Gonzales (February 22, 2010).

Survivors include eleven children, Gloria Rodriguez, Ray Gonzales, Ruben Gonzales, Jacinto Gonzales, Rosa Moreno, Mary Bautista, Eddie Gonzales, Lupe Gonzales, Ralph Gonzales, Jesse Gonzales, and Bell Garcia; thirty-four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
