Bertha Leona Simmons

A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, in Bethel Cemetery, Funston, Texas, with Brother Don Greenway officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bertha was born June 14, 1930 to Charlie O. English and Bertha May Summers English in Coleman, Texas. She married Ray Simmons. Bertha was a produce business owner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. English; her husband, Ray Simmons; her son, Charlie Simmons; and a grandson, Randy Brewer.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Stroope of Abilene; a brother, Robert English of Sweetwater, Texas; a sister, Mary Agee of Austin, Texas; a sister-in-law, Maxine Simmons; granddaughters, Brenda Oliver and Jennifer Simmons; grandsons, Richard Brewer, Thomas Simmons, and Yancy Simmons; several great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and extended family.

She was a grandmother to many and our Earthly Angel.
