In Celebration of the Life of Betty Jean Copeland. Betty passed from this temporary life on Feb 24, 2015. She is now rejoicing with her Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and the rest of her earthly family who left this life earlier.
Betty was born on April 1, 1939 in Nashville, Tennessee. She went home to be with her LORD on February 24, 2015. She was born to Harold and Thelma Murray. She was the fifth of six children. She was raised in Nashville and met Larry at Vanderbilt Hospital where she worked as a blood bank technician. They moved to Silver Spring, Maryland where her 3 children were born. The family moved to Lubbock, Texas so Larry could attend Sunset School of Preaching and Betty stayed home to raise her children. She was a preacher’s wife in Helena, Montana where she decided to go back to work. This was where she began her love for consignment clothing.
Betty was filled with the Holy Spirit at a young age and loved her Lord. She also had a special love for Israel and took several trips there to witness the life of her Lord. She ministered to people as a mother, homemaker, and as the owner of a consignment clothing store. After moving to Abilene in 1981, Betty opened a consignment store called The Inner Circle, where she ministered to people for 24 years. She was a wonderful example of Christ and left a legacy of love.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Arthur, Johnny, Jimmy and her sister, Catherine.
She is survived by her husband, Larry, after a wonderful marriage of 53 years and her 3 children, Tracy Copeland, Karen Gililland and her husband Michael, and Kevin Copeland and his wife Kimberly; her brother Charles and wife Rose; many nieces and nephews, and two of the greatest grandchildren, Lindsey Gililland and Corban Gililland, who called her MiMi.
There will be a celebration at Highland Church of Christ on 425 Highland Avenue on Friday, February 27th from 5:00-7:00. Betty wanted a time of joy and remembrance while we share her love and fellowship. Interment will be at Elliott Hamil Garden of Memories on Hwy 277 at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 28th for family and friends.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Service Center of Abilene.
